African Cultural Afternoon
Avenidas, the first cultural space of the Um Teatro em Cada Bairro program, by the Lisbon City Council, promotes, in collaboration with the Kambami Association, an afternoon dedicated to African culture and arts, which includes an exhibition, two concerts, poetry readings and a moment of tasting African flavors.
At the Avenidas gallery, at 2.30 pm, a joint exhibition will open, featuring works by artists Adelino Semedo, Alejandro Garcia Rosado and Galeria African Arte Lisboa. At 3:45 pm, the auditorium opens its doors with the first concert of the afternoon, by Cape Verdean singer Viviane Barbosa, accompanied by Tony Fortes, on guitar. An intimate concert dedicated to traditional Cape Verdean songs.
At 4:45 pm, the writer and poet Vera Furtado will recite her poems, present in her audio-book Simenti . Vera Furtado has dedicated herself to bringing Creole to more people, giving her recitals in Creole, but also in the mother tongue of the spectators present so that the message reaches everyone who hears it. At 5:45 pm, the bandeirinha bandeirinha da Boba band brings strong rhythms, dance and an imposing voice with the Batuku concert.
Closing the afternoon, at 18:50, the public is invited to taste some of the African flavors, in a moment of conviviality with the artists who participated in this African Cultural Afternoon .
